Debbie Wearables are a Hit!

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by VIDA, an international custom clothing company, about submitting my  designs for consideration.  They were accepted and viola! Suddenly I am a clothing designer of sorts. Yes. I have my own label. I’m guessing others like them as well since so many have ordered. I am amazed and humbled.

At VIDA, everything is custom made – from the thread to the fabric. I am very proud  to be part of the team of international artists who gets to create these things.

Below are a few of my designs. I hope you will visit the site and see if anything suits your needs.  We offer everything from wraps and coverups to cashmere scarves, all using Designs by Debbie!

Happy Shopping!

Something different from Own A Debbie

One of the joys of being an artist is that you aren’t cubbyholed into doing just one thing. Self expression is lost if the only thing you do is acrylic landscapes, for example. That said, I have now added earrings to those things I make. Some are hand painted, others are not. All have hooks handmade by yours truly.  Feel free to add a comment. As always, if you would like to Own A Debbie, just let us know.

Earrings, from funky to elegant.

Recycled Art

People are always giving me discards to paint. So I sit here surrounded by large rocks, tiny pebbles, tree branches and pieces of what was once useful furniture.

I have several palm fronds that I’ve been looking at for months not knowing what to do with them. If I turned them sideways, they resembled fish. Straight up, well, they didn’t look like anything in particular. But they are unique looking and they have a surface that just cries for paint.

About a week ago, it hit me….I’d make a fun mask doing what I do best….dots! Yes, I am the queen of dots. Someday when I am long gone, they will refer to this as my ‘dot’ period.

But I digress…I sketched out a design and went to work and viola! Winkie was born!

What’s Old Is New Again

                           Waiting For A Train

Now and then I will have something I painted a few years back that I am not entirely pleased with.  Waiting For A Train is one of those that always left me thinking it was missing something.

I’ve learned so many techniques since the earlier version and my tastes in what I paint has changed. That said, four weeks and many hours later, Waiting For a Train is officially finished.

I am more than pleased with the final result and hope you enjoy it as well.

Mea Culpa!

img_20160921_095619

First, I want to thank everyone for their undying support of everything I’ve been involved in over the years. I am awed and humbled by your support.

Most recently, I want to thank all of you for going through great pains to register to vote for my tulips at Art Prize this year. I know it was a pain in the neck and I realize that everyone who did it, did it for me. Yup. I’m feeling the love.

Apparently I was reading some information from previous years where you could vote from anywhere. This year, it was changed to prevent fraud. Now you have to be physically present in Grand Rapids, MI to be able to vote. Yup. It tracks your location. So unless you plan to be there, you will not be able to vote for me or anyone else.

I am truly sorry for an inconvenience I’ve caused. You are all special to me. If you do happen to be in Grand Rapids between now and October 2, I hope you will stop by to see my Tulips and yes…vote there!

The folks at First Park kindly sent me a photo of it hanging in their gallery. They have been wonderful in making sure my Tulips were shown.

If you do happen to go, here’s the info you will need: It is at First Park Congregational, open from noon till 8 every day during the event. It’s located at 10 Park Place NE, Grand Rapids, MI, 49503. My voting number is, 62915, Tulips, Tulips Everywhere.

Thanks so much for all your support!
